Seward Alaska Railroad Dock

The Seward Alaska Railroad Dock is a 750’ long intermodal facility constructed to bring the Alaska Railroad tracks out on the heavy cargo dock.  This allows direct transfer of heavy or time sensitive freight between ocean going vessels and rail cars.  This fast track project, completed in just 5 months, included 250,000 cubic yards of embankment fill, over 2,000 sheet pile, 350,000 cubic yards of dredging, heavy dock fendering, and mooring dolphins. In addition to heavy cargo vessels, the dock services the cruise ship industry as well as the general cargo market.
